Six Kalimas Flashcards – Learn and Memorise One Kalima at a Time
The Six Kalimas are among the first things many children memorise at home and at madrasah. This bright, printable set puts each kalima on its own card, with the Arabic, an easy transliteration and the meaning in English side by side, so learners can read it, say it and understand it.
What is on every card
- The kalima's number and name, such as 1st Kalima: Tayyab
- What the name means, such as The Word of Purity
- The kalima in clear Arabic with tashkeel
- An easy transliteration for those still learning to read Arabic
- The meaning in English
The six kalimas
- Tayyab: The Word of Purity
- Shahadat: The Word of Testimony
- Tamjeed: The Word of Glorification
- Tauheed: The Word of Oneness
- Astaghfar: The Word of Seeking Forgiveness
- Radde Kufr: The Word of Rejecting Disbelief
For school and classroom teachers
There is no preparation beyond printing and cutting. Display the kalima the class is working on, read it together at the start of the lesson, and move on to the next card once everyone is confident. The English meaning on each card makes it easy to talk about what the words say, not only how they sound.
For madrasah and Islamic studies teachers
The cards follow the usual order of teaching, so they slot straight into a memorisation programme. Use one card per stage, listen to each child recite, and send a card home for practice. The tashkeel supports correct reading, and the transliteration helps beginners join in while their Arabic reading develops.
For homeschooling families and parents
Keep the current card somewhere your child will see it every day, such as the fridge or beside the bed. Say the Arabic aloud for your child to copy, practise a little each day, and tick the kalima off on the guide card once it is learned.
For students
Each card gives you everything in one place: the Arabic to read, the English letters to help you say it, and the meaning so you know what you are saying. Learn one kalima well, then move on to the next.
Bonus guide card
A card for parents and teachers with simple tips (print, listen first, one at a time) and a tick list of all six kalimas to track progress.

- The transliteration is a guide for beginners; learning the Arabic from a teacher is always best.
- Wording of the kalimas can vary slightly between teachers. Please check the cards against the version your school or madrasah teaches.
